Georgia Ports is back to normal operations today and we would like to remind our trucking community partners to please plan on normal gate hours Thursday, August 8th at Garden City Terminal and Ocean Terminal.

August 7, 2024 – 1:00 pm EST

The U.S. Coast Guard has opened the Port of Savannah and Port of Brunswick at 12:00 pm today to vessel traffic.  

This announcement follows both ports reopening truck gates earlier this morning.

The Ports of Savannah and Brunswick are both now open and operating with normal operations after Tropical Storm Debby.

August 6, 2024 – 10:30 am EST

GPA leadership team met this morning – here’s today’s update.

Vessel traffic in Savannah and Brunswick has not resumed yet. The U.S. Coast Guard is doing their normal waterway inspection and offshore wind analysis before reopening the port safely. We will keep customers informed when we are able to start moving vessels into port.

Savannah:   Garden City Terminal;  Ocean Terminal

Tuesday, August 6

  • Terminals closed. 

All cargo handling equipment and facilities in good shape after storm.

Wednesday, August 7

Terminals reopen:

  • Garden City Terminal 0600 hrs
  • Ocean Terminal 0800 hrs

Brunswick:

Colonels Island

Tuesday, August 6

  • Closed.

Wednesday, August 7

  • Reopens at normal hours.
  • Customers should check with each Auto Processor and OEM when they will reopen.

Mayor’s Point Terminal

Tuesday, August 6

  • Closed.

Wednesday, August 7

  • Reopens 0700 hrs

August 5, 2024 – 10:00 am EST

GPA leadership team met this morning – here’s today’s update.

Savannah:   Garden City Terminal;  Ocean Terminal

Monday, August 5  

  • Terminal and gates are open and working until 3:00 pm today.
  • Terminal will close at 3:00 pm.
  • We will receive cargo up to 2:00 pm today.   

Tuesday, August 6

  • Terminal closed. No vessel activity at these locations.

Wednesday, August 7

  • We plan on reopening Wednesday morning with a delayed start.
  • The time of the reopening will be confirmed on Tuesday.

Brunswick:

The Port of Brunswick has no ships in today at Colonel’s Island or Mayor’s Point Terminal – and will not be receiving inbound vessels until the Coast Guard gives the all clear after the storm passes.

Colonels Island

Monday, August 5th

  • All gates are currently open and will close at noon today for inbound traffic of all types.
  • However, trucks scheduled to pick up or drop off cargo today and tomorrow should first check with Processors and OEM’s to see whether or not they will be accepting trucks. 

GPA gates remaining open is not a guarantee that processors and OEMs will be onsite.

Tuesday, August 6

  • Closed.

Wednesday, August 7

  • Colonel’s Island is planning to reopen, subject to weather conditions.
  • Customers should check with each Auto Processor when they will reopen.

Mayor’s Point Terminal

Monday, August 5

  • Currently open to receive and load out trucks this morning but will  close at noon today. 

Tuesday, August 6

  • Closed.

Wednesday, August 7

  •  Planning to reopen, subject to weather conditions.

August 4, 2024 – 1800 EST

Georgia Ports continues to monitor the storm track – we are still planning for a normal start to the workday on Monday, August 5th.

An early shut down of port operations will be determined by Monday mid-morning as we determine the storm forecast. 

Savannah:

Garden City Terminal

Monday, August 5 

  • Open, business as usual.  Normal gate hours.
  • Gate 4:   0400 – 1800
  • Gates 3 and 8:    0600 – 17:00
  • Vessel and terminal operations – normal operations planned.

Ocean Terminal

Monday, August 5

  • Open, business as usual.  Normal gate hours 0800 – 1700 hrs.
  • Vessel and terminal operations – normal operations planned.

Brunswick:  Colonel’s Island

  • Open, business as usual.

Georgia Ports continues to monitor the storm track for our customers, trucking community and all users of our ports. We are in touch with our contracted meteorologist and State and Local Emergency Management departments.  

We are planning for normal start to the workday on Monday, August 5th.
