Message from the President and CEO

Griff Lynch
Griff Lynch, President and CEO

At the Georgia Ports Authority, we are laying the foundation for a future in which our deepwater ports are even more powerful engines for economic development.

Infrastructure investment is a vital facet of our mission to accommodate growing trade, empower entrepreneurs and strengthen industries. With $1.9 billion in infrastructure investments underway, and $4.5 billion planned over the next 12 years, the GPA continues to move forward with an aggressive plan to enhance its terminal operations.

At Garden City Terminal, the Mason Mega Rail project has doubled rail lift capacity to 2 million twenty-foot equivalent container units per year. This massive rail expansion enables the Port of Savannah to capture additional market territory through direct service to population centers across the Midwest.

New dock upgrades and a growing crane fleet ensure Savannah can efficiently serve the largest container ships serving the U.S. East Coast today and well into the future.

In Brunswick, we are adding new space for auto processing to allow Colonel’s Island Terminal to take on substantial new business. No other U.S. auto port has as much room to grow along with customer needs. With 532 acres in use and another 400 acres permitted for development, Colonel’s Island is the nation’s single largest auto port.

By always preparing for the next evolution of global trade, the GPA is able to capitalize on favorable circumstances as they arise, from the export of plastic resins to the import of fresh produce to serve the Southeastern U.S. as a national gateway.

The Authority’s forethought and flexibility are why Georgia is leading the way in superior service and innovative logistics solutions.
