Staying ahead of the growth curve

Georgia Ports' approach to continuous improvement can be summarized as the “Three Rs" — river, rail and roads. To ensure cargo fluidity beyond our gates, we are building the Mason Mega Rail Terminal, which will double Savannah’s rail lift capacity to 1 million containers per year. Additionally, the Georgia Department of Transportation is extending a four-lane route from GPA's main gate so that trucks that already have a direct link to Interstate 95, will also have expedited access to Interstate 16 for east-west service.

WebAccess

The movement of cargo doesn’t happen only between 9 and 5, and neither does your need to track where that cargo is and when it’s going to get to its destination. WebAccess, a real-time, Internet-based information service of the Client Relations Center, allows 24-hour access to vital container information via a Web-browser interface.

Customer Service

The GPA’s Client Relations Center is unparalleled in the industry. Port users can resolve issues with one phone call.

Interstate Access

To improve safety and expedite truck traffic, Georgia opened the Jimmy DeLoach connector in 2016, providing direct truck access between Garden City Terminal and Interstate 95. The connector cuts 11 minutes from the drive time between the port and the interstate.

Mason Mega Rail

The Mason Mega Rail Terminal will double the Port of Savannah’s annual rail lift capacity to 1 million containers. The expansion, expected to be completed in 2020, will better accommodate 10,000-footlong unit trains for Norfolk Southern and CSX transportation, the East Coast’s two Class I railroads.
