Interfor, the largest lumber producer in the state, will invest $30 million in its sawmill operations in Perry.

The company is a global supplier fora variety of lumber products including fibers for house frames and furniture. In Georgia, they employ more than 1,200 people and operate seven sawmills statewide.

The investment will help increase the production of lumber and log consumption at the Perry mill.

“We are excited to further invest in the Perry team and community. This operation has a dedicated and proven team of employees with a history of success with upgrade work,”said Bruce Luxmoore, vice president of Southern operations for Interfor. “The expansion will increase consumption of the timber resource and provide economic benefits to the broader community.”
