Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC)

The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) announced that the mandatory compliance date for the TWIC program in the Ports of Savannah and Brunswick would be December 1, 2008. On said date, all port users were required to present a TWIC card (and a valid GPA credential) to gain unescorted access to any GPA regulated and restricted marine terminal. This was a firm date and was not subject to change.

New online Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) renewal process

The Authority strongly encourages all port users, who have not already done so, to take the required steps to enroll for their TWIC. Port users will be required to present both a TWIC card and a valid GPA credential to gain access to all GPA terminals.

All port users must have their actual TWIC card. Federal law prohibits the Authority from allowing port users with just a receipt for their TWIC card to access GPA’s restricted marine terminals. Only those persons with their TWIC cards will be authorized access to GPA terminals. Those port users presenting just their receipts will be denied access.
