Rail on a whole new scale

The Port of Savannah’s Garden City Terminal is the Southeast’s busiest intermodal gateway. The Georgia Ports Authority is making $1.9 billion in infrastructure improvements to capture greater market share in existing and new destinations for GPA. Savannah is rapidly increasing and expanding service across the Mid-American arc of inland markets, from Atlanta to Memphis and Dallas, extending to St. Louis, Chicago and the Ohio Valley.

    The Georgia Ports Authority’s Mason Mega Rail Terminal, a five-year infrastructure investment, is ready to roll.

    Sitting on 85-acres at the Port of Savannah, Mason Mega Rail is the largest on-terminal intermodal facility in North America.

Cargo moves from vessel to rail in an industry-leading 24 hours

Increases the number of working tracks from 8 to 18

Adds 97,000 feet of new rail at Garden City Terminal, for a total of 34 miles of track

Doubles the Port of Savannah’s rail lift capacity to 2 million TEUs per year

Enables more frequent, direct service and unmatched reliability.

Allows GPA to better serve customers in an area now spanning from Dallas to Memphis and into the Midwest.
