GPA grows trade, market share

Intermodal volume up 20 percent

The Georgia Ports Authority achieved 14 percent growth in March container volumes, moving 355,208 Twenty-foot Equivalent Unit containers. For the fiscal year to date (July-March), TEU container trade grew by 9 percent, or 255,786 additional units for a total of 3.08 million, a new record for Savannah. Intermodal rail volumes jumped by 20 percent in March and 15.4 percent for the fiscal year to date, for a total of 318,454 containers handled over nine months – another record for the GPA.

47,700 HRV, FIT and Civic vehicles cross Colonel's Island docks in FY2017

American Honda Motor Company nearly tripled its business through the Port of Brunswick in Fiscal Year 2017, adding 34,700 vehicles over the previous year. Honda's increased volumes were the result of numerous factors, including Colonel's Island's prime location, additional capacity and teamwork.

August trade heats up in Brunswick, Savannah

Autos up 15 percent, containers up 5 percent

Auto and container volumes at the U.S. Southeast’s busiest ports in Brunswick and Savannah experienced impressive growth in the month of August. Colonel’s Island Terminal in Brunswick moved 53,675 units of roll-on/roll off cargo, an increase of 7,109 or 15.3 percent more than August last year.

Strong demand drives record growth

The Georgia Ports Authority experienced strong growth in containerized, auto and breakbulk trade in March.

The Port of Savannah moved 311,770 twenty-foot equivalent units last month, an increase of 5.6 percent or 16,621 TEUs. Total tonnage across all terminals increased 9.8 percent (258,627 tons), moving 2.89 million tons for the busiest March ever in the Authority’s history.
